We currently feature twelve Native Spices, each boasting exceptional and high-potency flavour profiles.
From the bracingly bold Wayanadan Black Peppercorns from India to the exquisitely fragrant Vanilla Pods from Mexico, and the fiery, aromatic Calabrian Chili Peppers from Italy, our offerings are nothing short of extraordinary.
Our remarkable Native Spices are single origin. They can be traced to a single crop, farmer, or co-operative in a region.
We source our Native Spices only from their countries of origin or of natural evolution.
We work directly with small-holder farmers, cooperatives, and processors who practise sustainable farming and are actively protecting and preserving their Native crops.
To date, together with our clients, we empower the ambitions and valiant efforts of over 1, 300 smallholder farmers and their processors including by paying them equitable rates.
By doing so, we are fortifying farming communities that are actively preserving and restoring 10 Native Spice plants and their habitats in 13 regions across 4 countries.

They are seeds, fruits, roots, and barks of plants that occur, grow or evolve naturally in a region. They remain genetically unaltered by humans.
Native plants are the foundation for the healthy ecosystems that all living beings collectively depend on for our survival.
Over 1, 200 Spice and Herb plants – ingredients that we use everyday – in food and beverages, preservatives, medicine, and beyond – face extinction or are endangered such as House of Epula’s Native Vanilla Pods.
This reality gravely jeopardizes our health, food, and water security. In many regions, it threatens the very social fabric.
“The land is my life and living in nature is a part of me.”
FARMER RITA | Calabria, Italy
ANDREA ALRIDGE, Executive Chef, Janevca | Victoria, Canada
“It is a real pleasure to work with a purveyor who cares about us as well. The quality, the service, and all aspects of House of Epula are at the same quality as the Spices themselves.”
LUCAIS SYME, Executive Chef & Co-Owner, Autostrada Hospitality | Vancouver, Canada
